Step 15 - Save Video File Dialog

Alright. As you see, the Save Video File dialog box for the most part looks like any other "Save As" dialog box in Windows. But there are some important differences.

First of all, to remind you, you clicked "Customize" on that popup menu to bring this up!

I'm going to mix the arrow colors up abit now. Whoa! Dude! Alright settle down now...

  • The Teal colored arrow is pointing at the directory we are going to save our new file in. I previously created one called "moviemaker" and navigated to it.
  • The file name (I didn't put in an arrow... you'll just have to find it yourself) defaults to the same thing as the import file name. You might want to change it. I recommend leaving out the file extension here. If you want to leave it alone -- that's fine.
  • The Red colored arrow is pointing at the "Save as Type" drop down list. The default value is MPEG. That won't work, we need to change it to Microsoft AVI (more on this below).
  • The Blue colored arrow is pointing to the Options button. You are going to need to click here to make some changes (but we'll cover that later)>

So, at very least you will need to change the file type and make some other changes by clicking the Options button and changing some settings there.

To your left I show that I have picked "Microsoft AVI Files" as my file type. You need to do this then click the "Options" button. We will talk more about options on the next step.
