I'm having a problem as well with cfinput after upgrading from Coldfusion 5.0 to MX. CFFORM/ CFINPUT no longer validate? What is going on? Is this server side?

Why doesn't form validation work when upgrading from CF 5.0 to MX?

What happens to your form if the browser is not Java enabled? Will it still work, but without the validation, or will it not work at all?

Is there a way to specify what format of date to validate against? Not everyone uses dd/mmm/yy.

Chapter 9, "Building Dynamic Forms", in the Developing ColdFusion Applications book contains a description of using JavaScript regular expressions with cfinput.

I note that none of the books I have read so far have covered regular experssions within CFINPUT and that though there is some reference to the regular expression patterns being JavaScript compatible I've had to resort to a JavaScript book to look up the correct syntax. Can you amend the docs so that some syntax is given or is at least more obvious if its already there. I've been unable to find it.

I also notice that the example uses a US date for the regulr expression pattern but the error message implies a eurodate.

If you mean something like:

<cfinput name="<cfif foo>blah<celse>boo</cfif>">

The answer is no. That's true for all CF tags.
