I am a geeky guy who was recently working for Collabera doing contract work as a software engineer at IBM on their AT&T account. I love working with programming and technology on my own time. I like to tinker with stuff. And I like gadgets such as the iPhone. But fear not! I like to do non-geeky stuff too, like: hiking, biking, painting, and messing around with music. My wife Yvonne loves brain-washing me into believing that I am the handsomest man in the world all whilst still keeping me on my toes!

Where did the name “Orville” come from?
I was named after my father. My dad did not want me to suffer being called a “junior” so I was given the middle name of Paul (my dad’s middle name is Andrew). My father was named after my grandmother’s favorite brother. Naming me Orville was my mother’s idea (blame her)! I like the name now and, I figure that when I “become famous” for doing all sorts of wonderful things, people will be naming their sons Orville and their daughters Orvillina! LOL!

Where did the name “Chomer” come from?
It is Hungarian. In the old country, My sir name was Csömör . Since people mis-spelled it all the time here in the good ol’ U.S. of A., so my grandfather had the last name’s spelling changed. … People still mis-spell the revised last name to this day!  Oh well!   😜

Interesting fact: There is a large village in Pest county in Hungary named Csömör . Note that I have never actually been to Hungary (though I would like to go there some day).

I had published an iPad app for a friend in the Apple App Store. It was an interactive book of poems called I Lost My Underwear Today and other Flights of Imagination. It is only $1.99! The book was illustrated by drawings made by the author and the user can listen to him read aloud each poem.  [Note: My friend has let his Apple account lapse and the app is no longer available in the app store 😞]

I love shooting and editing video. I have a Canon HG10 HD camera that I use. and I edit video using Finalcut Studio on my iMac at home.

I had been using Photoshop CS4 to work with images that I would put out on the web. I’ve always though Adobe has charged too much for their offerings, and now, with the software license that I purchased no longer able to run on my Mac combined with Adobe’s current insane pricing model, I have been soured on the idea of purchasing their products. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good products, but they’re just way too expensive for me to handle. And, even if somehow I could afford them, it honestly feels like I’m being robbed! That they will extract every last nickel from my wallet that they possibly could get away with!

I’ve purchased Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer from the App Store on my Mac for what I consider a very reasonable one-time price. I’m not as familiar with their software as much as I am with Photoshop or Illustrator, but their software is very powerful and can do everything I need it to do and more. I’m sure that over time I will get more and more comfortable using their products.

Of late, I also purchased Affinity Publisher.  I used it to help me create an adult coloring book of tessellation patterns which can provide you with some relaxing, enjoyable designs for you to color. You can purchase it on Amazon here .

I have also worked with the free open source image editor: GIMP on the PC.
