Val’s Art Diary DVD Revisited

Share this:

Well, I’ve sent a message to Val again about my missing DVD. She’s going to work on getting me a copy finally (I ordered it months ago). I don’t think that the problem is Val herself, most likely it is the people she hired to distribute her DVD.

I’m looking forward to getting it Val! Love your show!

An Update on iPhone Development

UPDATED.

I have managed to get a sample  iPhone app compiled and running in the iPhone simulator that they provide. The app is an African thumb piano. It is a very imaginative use of the iPhone. It would be much nicer running on my iPhone rather than a simulator!

There are some really neat and creative sample programs in the iPhone SDK now, some of them besides being good sampls to look at as far as their code are concerned are apps that I’d actually like to have on my iPhone for my own use! I like the idea of the program that turns your iPhone into a level you can use to make sure that your pictures are straight! Cool.

I’ve spent a bit of time looking over the African Finger Thumb Piano code. I’m still trying to follow where the “start” of the code is. To be honest though, I’ve not spent allot of time looking into this lately.

Like It Never Really Happened…

ServePro is at my house right now. No, they’re not cleaning up after flood or fire damage, they’re cleaning out the vents in my house. They’ve never been cleaned as long as I’ve lived here (6 years). And I’d be surprised if really if the previous owner ever had it done! Hopefully it will help us breath easier.

Some Good News…

I thank God that some good stuff has happened…

  • My external 1TB hard drive is working. It was the power cable that didn’t work. A power cable is allot cheaper than a new drive!
  • Scheduled someone to come out to the house today and remove the bird’s nest and replace the vent that popped out.
  • I have begun the process of importing video from my camera into FinalCut Express from the work I did in St. Louis. This will probably take most of the day due to the hours of video taken. Once it is done, I can clear the camera’s hard drive (which is currently full).
  • I’m doing some abb exercises in addition to some exercises that my wife gave me. These are helping. I think this has reduced my discomfort by 35-40%.
  • I’m getting a full body massage tonight as well as Sunday Afternoon to ease the pain and loosen things up in my neck and shoulders.
  • I’m going to the chiropractor on Monday (its about time). I looked in the mirror two days ago and noticed that I’m really out of wack. No wonder my neck hurts!
  • I actually got some real measurable work done for my job. That really helps one feel better emotionally (at least me)!
  • I’ve done some work on a web site that my sister and I are working together on. I got the access to the mySQL database that I set up for it working properly.
  • I ordered an IPTV service for my house.

Not bad for the last three days!

Problems Come in Bunches

Problems come in bunches:

  • A bird is building a nest in a vent for my attic (the grate popped out). You can hear him in the ceiling of our bedroom. I’m trying to get a handyman to fix the problem.
  • My neck and shoulders are really bothering me and doing something about it is really a hassle. And, of course, when you feel bad, things that are a hassle seem to be even more of a hassle than they really are!
  • My external hard drive (1TB) for my MacBook is not powering up at all. This is really a drag (I’ve only had this thing a month or two).
  • The project I’m on at work is just a mass of confusion and corporate politics. Man do I hate this thing!

Just doing a little venting…

An Eclectic Blog

Share this:

I’m paying to have a link to my blog on USA Today’s web site. I was given different topics to select from. I had to pick one of the topics to list my blog under. I put it under Technology. I wish they had an Eclectic topic. That would be more relavent. I’m interested in technology so I write about it. But I’m interested in lots of things and I will write about those things too: health (I have health problems), interesting places or people, etc. Maybe some day there will be an Eclectic topic!

Marching Along As Best I Can

Share this:

I’ve not posted allot to my blog lately. I’ve really done no work at all on my web site either. I blame it mainly on poor health. Being distracted by my health, or intentionally distracting myself in some time-wasting activity (such as playing Generals Zero Hour) in order to attempt some diverting of my thoughts away from the unpleasantness of my health to something else.

I’m sick of being sick. I’m working on seriously changing my eating habits in more than just a half-hearted way. I’m exercising more. Man! Life is a serious thing. You can’t just put a quarter in the arcade machine of life and play another game.

How many times have I put up with some consequences of my actions because I was unwilling to really apply myself to the disciple necessary to have success. Now, the consequences are just getting too real, too serious, ultimately to painful to live with. I have to change. Not to change is just too unbearable!

So I march forward as best I can, studying, and most importantly, changing my behaviour.

My Status for Being Included the iPhone SDK Beta

Share this:

I received the following email:

In addition to the rich set of resources currently available to you in the iPhone Dev Center, we’ve just added new resources to power your development as you create world-class mobile applications with the iPhone SDK.

Thank you again for applying to the iPhone Developer Program. We’re thrilled with the tremendous response we’ve received. We have many more requests than we can serve during this initial beta period, so we must limit the Program at this time. We plan to expand it during the beta period, and we will contact you regarding your enrollment status at the appropriate time. We appreciate your patience.

I’m not in yet, but at least I’m not out either.

Crawling a Little Closer on the iPhone SDK

My id for logging in to Apple’s developer web site is different than the id I normally log in to my MacBook with. I was wondering if this was the reason that I could not download the items I subscribed to in the Help program in XCode.

So, I created a user on my MacBook with the same user name and signed in as that and fired up XCode. Next, I brought up the Help, subscribed to the items  that I wanted, and, bingo! Those items loaded!

When I tried to compile to the actual iPhone device (as opposed to the simulator), I still get an error… though it is a different error  now.

Rats! I went to try it again and I get yet another error: “No Device is Connected” This is in spite of the fact that I can bring up iTunes and it shows that it is connected!

Oh, and in the Organizer, it shows my iPhone. Go figure! It is all too clear that I am still missing some of the pieces of the puzzle.
